Zoo Trip {POSTPONED}

Our Trip to the Fresno Chaffee Zoo has been postponed until further notice due to the weather and air quality.
Plus, we would really like most of the girls to go since this is our Big Trip with our Cookie Money.

We apologize for any inconvience's and will let you all know when we re-schedule.
All the other events for the summer are still on....most are inside...!
Next time we meet it will be Slumber Party time...! Woo-Hoo!

T-Shirt Make-Over.

If you are looking for a fun way to dress up your Girl Scout Shirts, here is an idea...!
I was asked to put this tutorial up for you all and in perfect timing too...!
For Vacation Bible School this year, the kids all got T-shirts and they were a little too big. So I thought that I would make them over for their performance. I actually timed myself because as we were heading out the door to go to church, Maelyn says "Mom, I do want my shirt like Patience's now." It took me 7 minutes to make hers...!
Take your t-shirt.
Cut each side from the bottom up to the armpit/sleeve.
Next, cut a series of slits. Make sure to cut the front and back at the same time so the slits are the same length. I make mine about 1 inch wide....you can do up to 3 inches. How far in you cut depends upon how tight you want the shirt. If the shirt is really big, cut further in.
*Just realized we could have done this with our Cleanup Shirts*
Tie them together. Make sure you double knot.
Simple as that...!
Have your child model with a goofy face and you are done...!

A Great First Year....!

I've been thinking of our first year as a troop together.
Situations I could have handled better, did I connect with the girls, what could we change next year, did I do enough????
When I went to iron-on the badges from the last ceremony.....I would have to say....yes, we did enough as a Troop...!
These are from one year....!
 My Daisy in her Vest {minus a couple petals that didn't make it home with us from the ceremony, have to go buy some now.}
 The back of her vest.
Next year, that vest is going to be full....!
 My Brownie in her sash.
I would totally recommend everyone buying a vest instead. I know the girls are all about the cool sash, but I think I'm going to have to buy another sash for next year.
{This is not including all our summer activities!}
Did we do enough this year?
I would have to say so...!

BANK TOUR

Today the girls had an opportunity to earn an extra Badge.
They got to tour the local West America Bank.
The girls paid close attention and were interested in what they were saying.

The Bank Manager was very nice to our girls. Sandy even emailed her ahead of time to see if she could talk about some of the things that needed to be addressed for Badge Work. She answered all questions as well.

They each had to bring a healthy snack so afterwards we walked to the park to eat and talk about what we learned. The girls had questions about money they needed to discuss as well.
It was just an extra opportunity to learn, get together and earn a Badge.
I had alot of fun. Thanks Troop Leader Sandy for putting this together!

Bank Tour.

Your missions for the Bank Tour.......
{Daisies do not have a mission because they don't have a Badge/Try-It for Banking...they will however get a Bank Tour Patch. They do need to bring a healthy snack and something to drink....if they choose to accept that mission.}

BROWNIES:
Should you choose to accept your mission… you will earn… Try-it – PENNY POWER.
Good Luck Agent!

TASK – Keep track of how much money you use over the weekend. How much do you spend on eating out? On treats or toys?

If you get an allowance, is it enough for all these things? If you don’t, how much allowance would you need?

Think of a way that you could save some part of your real or imaginary allowance.

ACCESS TO ENTRY
- Bring a healthy snack and something to drink.

JUNIORS:

Should you choose to accept your mission… you will earn… Badge – MONEY SENSE.
Both tasks must be done… Good Luck Agent!

TASK 1 – How much money does it take a family to live today? With the help of your family, write down all the types of expenses you can think of, including rent or mortgage payments, taxes, electricity, cable, entertainment, and gifts. How much would you need to earn to pay these bills?

TASK 2 – How much is a dollar worth? That depends on where you are in the world. Pick two countries and, with the help of an adult, find out what the exchange rate is for an American dollar.

ACCESS TO ENTRY

CADETTES:
Should you choose to accept your mission… you will earn… IP Patch – DOLLARS & SENSE.

CAMPING 2011.

Our first campout in Amanda's Backyard.
It looks like a campground doesn't it?
So, I was in charge of this event this Summer.
What I did was choose a Badge for each of the Troops to work on while Camping so they earned a Badge as well as a Backyard Camping Patch.
First, we all set up the tents.
The Cadettes and Juniors made dinner.
 The girls sewed their Sit-Upons.
They learned a new "Grace" for when we eat.
They gave the older girls an applause for their great cooking!
My husband is a wildland firefighter. He talked with the girls about outdoor jobs.
The girls divided into groups and did skits.
 Breakfast in the morning.
 Time for centers.
The Daisies made necklaces with Becky.
The Cadettes had homework for their camping badge. They had to put together a First Aid Kit.
Kimberly did an amazing job with hers.
This group learning how to tie knots with Sandy.
Amanda taught the girls how to use a compass.
 Arianna with her necklace.
Carmendee is one of our group Tagalongs.
Camping Bingo for the Daisies.
They split into groups for a Scavenger Hunt.
Looking for all the things on their list.
Time for our "Hike." We went out exploring for awhile.
Troop #2447 had a great time Camping.
The girls picked everything up so quickly, I was impressed.
They came with their homework and ready to go.
These girls are amazing!
Thanks to all the other Leaders and Husbands that helped us. <3
