It says they are being sold at Walmart and Claire's. Jump for Joy...!

Bakersfield Troops will also be hosting a World Thinking Day.
We are going to have a booth at this location as well as the Fresno location.
February 18, 2012 from 1-3 pm at the East Hills Mall Center Court.

Troop #2447 will be representing the country Taiwan.
What Thinking Day is basically...it's the girls opportunity to learn about what girl guiding is like in different countries.
What Thinking Day is basically...it's the girls opportunity to learn about what girl guiding is like in different countries.
They go around to different booths and ask the other Girl Scouts what it is like to be a Girl Scout in that country. So, our Troop needs to be knowledgable in our country Taiwan.
At the next Girl Scout meeting, we will be learning about Taiwan and coming up with the different activities we want to do to teach others about our country.
It is important that the girls go to Thinking Day. If you need rides or anything let me know.
The leaders will be there, but this is mostly put on by the Girl Scouts. They will be the ones leading the activities and teaching the other Girls that come by the booth.
I'm excited about this event. We didn't go last year...so this is a new experience.
I do need to know asap which girls are going. The Troop needs to be registered in order to receive the patch. Thank you parents...!
No Soliciting...!
This is going to be one of my first craft projects when I move...!
Going to make a board to put outside like this...!
Cookie Rally 2012...!
The Council sponsored a Cookie Rally this year at the Fairgrounds for all the Troops...
We encouraged our girls to go.
*BTW....what our Troop does is, pay a portion of Events to encourage them to go.*

Chip Wrecked Movie Night...!
During Christmas Vacation, the Leaders and Parents took the Girls to the movie theater to watch Alvin and the Chipmunks...!
It was a reward for their Fall Fundraising. They get a movie ticket and a Kid's Pack.
*Our Troop goes on a Tuesday when tickets are discounted...then we could afford to get them their Kid's Meal as well.* We are super cheap in our Troop...we have the money just always ask ourselves how we can save.
The movies are a fun time with the girls. I really enjoy these special moments....although I never get to watch the movie with 40 girls having to potty. LOL
It was a time for our Girls to get together during their vacation...!
After a couple weeks, I miss them...!

5 County Badges.
To celebrate our 100th Anniversary and encourage girls and adults to visit other parts of our Council, we have developed a special patch program. Girls can earn five patches between October 1, 2011 and September 30, 2012; each patch represents a county within our Council. Special for this year only each patch is edged in gold in recognition of our 100th Anniversary. These patches are free and girls earn them by attending Council Sponsored programs.
To earn her home county segment, a girl must attend two programs within her home county.
To earn each of the other county segments, a girl must attend one program within that county.
Punch cards will be made available at Council Sponsored programs. Girls are responsible for taking their card with them to all the events they attend. At the end of the Council events, there will be a booth/table where girls can get their card punched and receive their patch.
*The Council has decided to do the 5 Counties each year from now on...however, only the 100th Year ones will be in Gold Trim. The other ones will be in black trim.
* I need to think of a way not to lose the punch cards all year. I have a ton of punch cards because I kept forgetting them and getting new ones for each county. Maybe making it into a necklace and leaving it in my jewelry that I wear each day will help?
Historical Badge Workshops.
Historical Badge Workshops
In order to truly appreciate how far Girl Scouting has come in the last 100 years, we {the GS Council} are reviving ten historical Girl Scout Proficiency Badges, one from each decade. These ten badges will be available in limited quantities and only for the 2011/2012 Girl Scout Year. After September 30, 2012, they will not be available.
As these are historical proficiency badges, they are to be worn on the front of the vest, sash or tunic. The badges themselves will be as close to the original historical badges they represent and outlined in Gold, to represent the 100th anniversary.
The Badge Workshops that are coming to Bakersfield are....
1. Historical Badge 1952-1611 Leather
May 5, 2012. $7. Daisies-Ambassadors.
2. Historical Badge 1992-2001 Science Slueth
Sep. 18, 2012. $7. Juniors-Ambassadors.
3. Historical Badge 1972-1981 Indian Lore
July 10 & July 11, 2012. $7. Brownies-Ambassadors.
If you find that you are willing to go out of the area to earn the other badges, I can defintely give you dates and locations for those in Tulare County.

See you then families...!
Christmas Caroling 2011.
For our Troop's Community Service Christmas Caroling this year, we decided to have them go over to a local nursing home to sing.
The girls met ahead of time to practice again, the songs and making Christmas Cards for each of the people that live there.
The Girl Scout Troop and parents headed over during their dinner time to sing some Christmas Carols.
When someone asked my girls how Caroling was, they kept saying how the elderly were eating spaghetti when they were singing...! I think they're going to remember that forever.
That and....this one lady wanted to keep my 4 year old. Literally keep her. She kept telling my husband to leave and she'll take care of her. I can't help but smile to hear the Caroling stories...!
