Wild About CAMP

Troop #2447, I need to know a definite decision if your girl is going camping.
We had to switch Camps due to the other one being filled to capacity.
I apologize for this. I will be filling out the paperwork and sending the deposit check the morning after our next Girl Scout Meeting. I may contact you, if they camp site needs a quicker response.
Think about it.
Start the camping season off with this adventurous weekend as we hike & learn about the many native animals of California & the San Joaquin Valley. Troops & families will have the option of arriving on Friday night to set-up camp or Saturday morning.
Who: Daisy, Brownie, Junior, Cadette, Senior & Ambassador
 When: Friday-Sunday, May 24-26, 2013
 Time: 6:00pm Friday-12:00pm Sunday
Where: Wind Wolves Preserve, 16019 Maricopa Highway, Bakersfield, CA 93311

A $10 Camp deposit is due. If you cannot go and have already given a deposit for the other camp...you will get your money back. If you have not paid the $10 deposit or do not have camp quarters saved all year, please pay asap if you are going.

I hope you all go...so we can make some awesome camp memories....!

Project Night Night

Cadettes...
I need your Project Night Night stuff by the next Journey Workshop on Sunday, April 14th.
Drop off gently used or new: 1 blanket, 1 toy or stuffed animal, 1 book.
Ages 0-10 years old.
I am so excited about this Service Project. Thousands of children each year sleep at this homeless shelter. Imagine, not having a home to sleep in. These bags provide a little bit of comfort to those children.
Drop off your stuff anytime to me....you know you're always welcome here.
Mi Casa Es Su Casa.
This will earn you your LIA Badge. If you do not do this, you will not get that LIA Badge. Just to be clear.
On April 14th, we will set a date to drop them off at the Bakersfield Homeless Shelter.
Call me if you have any questions.

Random pics.....random fun.

Cadette Campout.....

This Spring Break the Cadettes got together at my house for an extra badge workshop campout...!
They earned their New Cuisines Badge.
First thing they had to do was make something that is normally bought. So they made some homemade salsa and chips for us to munch on while they cooked.
They had to cook an international dish. So, they made Thai Chicken and Leek Stew.
Next, they had to make something that is from another region of the country...Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches.
Lastly, the girls were supposed to make a recipe that has been in the family for generations. I had them make my grandma's pineapple dessert.

They did a craft before it got completely dark.
With bleach and paint, they made galaxy shirts.

They also did their Public Speaking Badge while waiting for the Full Moon to come out.
They recited short stories, played charades, and did impressions of famous people.
For their Night Owl Badge, they needed to talk a walk around the neighborhood and compare their surroundings to those of the day time and how they feel.
They also needed to visit a store that is open 24 hours and see how they feel compared to in the daytime.
They went to the store for a late night snack and to interview an employee about working night shift and how it affects her life.

They slept for about ten minutes before I woke them up...!
My sleep was so off for a few days afterwards.

It was a great night earning badges with the Cadettes....not to mention I got dinner out of the deal.
Thanks parents for picking them up so early so my family could get ready to go out of town. I appreciate you..!

BOOTHING FUN.

This year for boothing, I thought we could go a different direction.
Our Troop is constantly doing stuff for the community and I thought it would be neat to make a list of things we have done to highlight how much we are involved.
When I started scribbling things down we have done within three years....I am pretty impressed with the girls and a bit proud.
Cookie Season is over until next year....but they are continuing their Service Projects all year round.

These girls are so much fun...!
Boothing is a different setting to get to know one another as well as the people in the community.
I thank the Troop, Leader Amanda and the Community for another Successful Cookie Season!
