Troop Crest.

Last Meeting we VOTED on our Troop Crest.
Each of us Troop Leaders picked one Crest.
I made up ballot sheets {with words and pictures for Daisies} and they got to choose which one they felt best represented our Troop.
I totally forgot to announce the Crest Winner after we celebrated our September Birthdays....

Winner is.....
Shooting Star Troop Crest.
Shooting Stars are rare, unexpected and beautiful!
Choosing this symbol means that you are like a shooting star- a team that lights up the world!
It is unanimous.!
If you are buying a new uniform this year like both of my girls are....they both Bridged up last year....you may buy the Shooting Star Troop Crest to put on your uniform. I printed out uniform pictures and stuck them in your files last meeting. Use them if you need help knowing where to place the Crest.
I have to admit, I wanted the Lightning Bolt....but when I think of our girls, I think the meaning behind the Shooting Star really suits them well.
I know they are Rare. I don't expect anything less from them than changing the world...!

Badge/Patch Placement....!

My girls went to that Journey Workshop sponsored by another Troop {fliers were out a couple of meetings.}
With those new Journey's and all the Badges and Patches from our Award Ceremony, I really have no clue where each ones are placed now. I wanted to show you the NEW Placement of each ones in case you are having the same issues as me.

The "Pins" such as the "My Promise, My Faith" and the "Safety Award" and the "Cookie Sale Activity Pin" are ones that the girls achieve on their own at home. I know the Junior Leader gave a packet to each girl in which had information for the girls to complete those pins. If your leaders have not talked with you about achieving them at home and the requirements, please talk with them.
There is also another Journey Workshop coming up on Jan. 14... one for each of the girls to earn another Journey....sponsored by another Troop. Fliers will be out next meeting, if they were not out at Caroling...
Any questions on Badge/Patch Placement....text me...!

T-Shirt Make-Over.

If you are looking for a fun way to dress up your Girl Scout Shirts, here is an idea...!
I was asked to put this tutorial up for you all and in perfect timing too...!
For Vacation Bible School this year, the kids all got T-shirts and they were a little too big. So I thought that I would make them over for their performance. I actually timed myself because as we were heading out the door to go to church, Maelyn says "Mom, I do want my shirt like Patience's now." It took me 7 minutes to make hers...!
Take your t-shirt.
 Cut each side from the bottom up to the armpit/sleeve.
 Next, cut a series of slits. Make sure to cut the front and back at the same time so the slits are the same length. I make mine about 1 inch wide....you can do up to 3 inches. How far in you cut depends upon how tight you want the shirt. If the shirt is really big, cut further in.
*Just realized we could have done this with our Cleanup Shirts*
 Tie them together. Make sure you double knot.
Simple as that...!
Have your child model with a goofy face and you are done...!

A Great First Year....!

I've been thinking of our first year as a troop together.
Situations I could have handled better, did I connect with the girls, what could we change next year, did I do enough????
When I went to iron-on the badges from the last ceremony.....I would have to say....yes, we did enough as a Troop...!
These are from one year....!
 My Daisy in her Vest {minus a couple petals that didn't make it home with us from the ceremony, have to go buy some now.}
 The back of her vest.
Next year, that vest is going to be full....!
 My Brownie in her sash.
I would totally recommend everyone buying a vest instead. I know the girls are all about the cool sash, but I think I'm going to have to buy another sash for next year.
{This is not including all our summer activities!}
Did we do enough this year?
I would have to say so...!

T-Shirt Time....!

These are the Customized T-Shirts that we are having made for the Troop.
They say our Troop Number and Location on them.

The price is very inexpensive. $10 per shirt.
However, since we really would like all the girls to have one for camping and trips and such...at the Awards Ceremony on March 1st, if you order one per Girl Scout, the Troop will pay 1/2 of the price. So, your price on March 1st would be $5 for a Customized Shirt {Girl Scout Shirt I should add, because they can be pricey!}
I will definetely be putting my order in for my Girls and even one for me...can't beat those prices!

*Update: They are here and were passed out at the last meeting. If you need yours please let Troop Leader Sandy know. There are extras as well!*

BTW...We ordered these shirts from Patch Place.com
You email her an idea of what you want, then she designs something and emails it back to you to proof.

Troop #2447 is expanding....!
We have some openings to be filled for Cadette Girl's. These girls should be in 6th or 7th or 8th grade.
If you know someone of that age that would like to join Girl Scouts, please email our troop.
Bonnie is a volunteer troop leader that is willing to spend her time teaching these girls.
What a blessing!

*Side Note: We have a few more openings for our little Daisies as well. These ages are Kinder and 1st graders. Just a few more, so please email us asap.
