Celebrating Red Ribbon Week...!

To celebrate Red Ribbon Week, our meeting was focused around RED!
They all wore red to the meeting...!
A Police Officer from Shafter came and gave the girls an educational session on drugs. He was really good with the girls and spoke more on their level.
I gave each of the girls a pledge card to fill in their names if they wanted to promise to keep off of drugs.
All of them did...! What's more was the officer said 9 out of 10 times he arrests someone, it's alcohol or drug related.
Afterwards, the girls headed outside to get a red balloon. Their pledges were tied to the balloon. They let them go. I told them that all those red balloons are all of them. They are the leaders and they will make that impact in the world...!
I think these girls are going to make an enormous impact on our community...!

Fresno Zoo Trip...!

We took a little trip to the Fresno Chaffee Zoo this past weekend.
This trip was earned by selling cookies a few months ago. It was postponed in the summer due to 100+ weather.
Finally, the weather was right and it was time to go...!
It was a special time for the girls and even families to come together for a little fun.

I hadn't been to that Zoo in years...!
I am so glad my kids got to have that experience.
My favorite thing about Girl Scouts is all new experiences and trying and learning new things.
It's completely and utterly FUN all around...!

Online Magazine Sales.

If your Girl Scout {with a parents' help} enters 12 email addresses to send a message to about magazines, they receive the Online Patch and Flower Necklace.
Basically, what you do is this....if you are confused by the instructions....
Go to this website http://www.girlscoutsccs.org/ or click on this direct link to the exact page {click here!}

Where it has this icon below....click on it.
It shall take you to another page to register your Girl Scout.
It's easy and they do not send you things all year round, trust me.
If your child has an email, type it in....my girls do not...so I use mine.
Follow directions. You may add another Girl Scout if you have another daughter onto the account.

They may ask you some questions with your girl.
Enter 12 email addresses. They will send those people an email to buy magazines. Your friends and family are not obligated or nor do not have to buy from these email messages. It's really not a big deal. It does keep track of who does buy from them though and will go directly to your child's magazine sales.
Print out where it says Detailed Order Report and give it to Amanda. Please make sure to tell Amanda if you did do this because we need to make sure you get your incentive plus when all the paperwork comes back there will be discrepancies in the monies.
If you have questions, please call one of us...! I don't want you to miss out on an easy patch...!

Mini Scrapbook

Last meeting, the girls decorated a chipboard Girl Scout.
It's actually going to be the front page to their mini scrapbook album that they will be doing all year round.
We will keep adding pages onto it.
For Homework: I needed them to decorate the back of that girl. They could use whatever materials you have on hand. The sky is the limit!
Bring them back at this Tuesday's meeting....!
I will be putting them in their own bags so they don't lose them. I will also be giving them pictures throughout the year to put in them.
If you ever take pictures and would like to share, please email me at bobbicamacho@hotmail.com
I have a few girls that left them at the meeting. I have them with me. If your GS did not take one home, please get it from me this week to complete. Thank YOU!

*These turned out adorable. We did one page a month for each holiday or season. At the end of the year, I bound them into Mini Albums {I kept their pages in gallon sized bags all year at my home so they don't get lost} I printed out wallet sized pictures and they put them in the last meeting. The very last Award Ceremony, they all got a Scrapbook Patch.

Dues....!

This year we are doing things a little differently with Dues.
Instead of paying at the door, the girls are going to collect them within their own Troops.
We had a cute box at the front of the girls to put their Dues in when they Sign-In.
One way of having my girls be more responsible with the money is to have them carry their Dues on their own. My little Daisy wears dresses sometimes and doesn't have pockets so I thought having them carry some type of pouch would be good so they don't lose their money.
I envisioned a smaller see-through pouch when I made it up in my mind...but these were .97 cents at Walmart....so they work. They are the binder pouches with the holes, so I put flowers to cover them up. The little lace is actually elastic so they can slip it on their wrists.
Hopefully, they work well....! We'll test them out this week.

Debuting in the Fall of 2011, we have added some NEW Girl Scout Badges to the collection.
I have to say, I am really impressed with these. They are adorable and some are great lessons for the girls...!

I cannot wait to get the year started because not only do the girls learn new things, many times I do as well....! We're learning together....!

Summer Luau...!

There is good news and bad news.
The Bad News is....Summer is over...! Vacation is over...!
The Good News is.....Girl Scout Meetings will be starting back up soon...!
Onward, to post our End Of Summer Luau pictures.
*BTW...our Patch for this event has a little Hawaiian Girl like the one up above...adorbs...!
We had a blast. With the cookie money, our troop had rented the public pool and had our own family night together. I really loved that night. It was a break from everything and just a nice get together.

Made these Nutter Butter Cookies for a Dessert.
I just love hanging out with my Girl Scout family.
We had dinner together, sat around and talked and swam.
Thank you families for ending a wonderful first year, summer and all....!

SELF-DEFENSE CLASS

This Self Defense class had my girls talking about it forever....!
They had so much fun...! They are ready to kick some bad guy booty....!

I was really impressed by the instructor. The girls thoroughly enjoyed how he taught them. His techniques were easy to understand and to copy. They learned alot of different moves to use.
Tae Kwon Do Tigers also is giving a discount to all Girl Scouts and anyone that mentions Girl Scouts.
If I didn't recently move, I would have taken advantage of the costs and the learning experience...! If you are interested, they are truly nice people. Call them and sit in and see for yourselves how beneficial Tae Kwon Do is.
*Thank you also to Sandy for posting when my internet was down*
